My name is Andy Turner, Freelance CGI Artist, Member of the CGI Collective Ten24 and Co Founder of CG Everything. This site in intended as a portfolio of some of the projects I’ve worked on. The views or opinions expressed here are not necessarily shared by anyone but me. So there.
My career began before I even left college where I was studying design communications. My interest in Computer Graphics arose from my interest in computers at the time of the Amiga and Atari ST. Using some early 3D software made me realise that I could do cool looking stuff and pass it off as “work” as part of my course which was mainly Graphic Design. Eventually I managed to get together a decent showreel of 3D animation and got a job working for a small Sheffield based video games company called Particle Systems. It was there in that small team that I learned how to make movies. Being asked to help come up with 14 minutes of CG sci-fi action movie from scratch with only 2 other artists will do that. My employers didn’t seem too concerned that I had no idea how to do it, god bless ‘em, I learn fast.
After several years as lead artist at Particle Systems, producing the groundbreaking animated intros and cutscenes for both I-War and I-War 2, Particle Systems was taken over by Argonaut Games. I worked on a number of things but most notably a game called Powerdrome. I worked as a lead on that, producing CG pre-production, in-game assets and animation.
In 2003 Myself and two colleagues from Particle systems, Stephen Tappin and Richard Wright setup Ark VFX along with 2000 AD artist and illustrator Greg Staples. Greg Left in 2004. Ark VFX was one of the UKs top animation studios, directing TV ads ad game trailers.
Ark VFX closed in october 2010 after 7 years of stunning CGI production. I am now working on a freelance basis and also a member of a CGI artist collective known as Ten24.
